| Summary of Arizona Graduated
Licensing Law |
(detailed chart bottom of this page) Arizona
has a four stage licensing process for minors.
- Beginning at 15 years and 7 months: Mandatory
Class G Instruction permit (Must pass written test to be eligible
and Class A, B, C or D driver required to be
in front passenger seat )
- New: Drivers under age 18 must hold Class G Instruction
Permit for 5-months. We recommend our Driver Ed in a Box® to
use during the Permit stage. Shows the parent how to
teach collision-free driving habits and provides unique teaching
tools (mirrors, checklists, videos, audio instruction series,
etc.).
- Beginning at 16 years: Class G
Driver License. Must hold valid instruction permit, pass road
test to be eligible and have completed driver education
OR have a parent/guardian certify that you
have completed 25 hours supervised driving practice, including
5 hours night time driving.
- Beginning at 18 years: Class D Driver License.

| Teens want to know how to
stay out of collisions! |
| Todays teens do not just want their license;
they want to be good collision-free drivers. They know the risks.
Virtually all have friends who got a license and were involved in
a collision in the first four weeks. Most teens have lost classmates
due to fatal collisions. |

"The (audio series was) most
valuable because it was like having a professional trainer in the
car with us." - C.W., Mesa, Arizona |

"The Driver Education Classroom
Program was quite helpful to me. It covered all the topics: From watching
out for pedestrians, to safety around 18-wheelers. Tips giving plenty
of room when following trucks I use even now (a year later). I was
impressed with much of the information, because it not only stressed
the importance of driving safely, but also explained in detail how
to do that." - C.R.W., Mesa, Arizona |
|
| "The main thing that I liked
about the in-vehicle training that I did in this program was that
I actually learned things that were going to apply on the road. I
like learning hands on, and this was a very good way to practice collision-free
driving. I didn't enjoy every second of the in-vehicle training, but
it was absolutely worth all of it. The best thing about all the in-vehicle
training was the layout of all the progressing steps and every day
it was something different. It was good to have my mom with me to
tell me what to do and what not to do. There were plenty of situations
that needed more attention than what the textbook could cover, so
it was good to learn with my parent. I feel like I have become a success
at being a collision-free driver." - Avery Clemmons,
